LANSING – Marking the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the Michigan AFL-CIO today announced they are joining the Michigan BlueGreen Alliance state table.
The Michigan AFL-CIO will bring the voice of over 1 million active and retired members from across Michigan to the discussion of how we can clean up our air and water, create a more just and equitable economy, and grow good-paying, middle-class jobs for Michigan’s citizens.
The Michigan AFL-CIO and BlueGreen Alliance issued the following statements celebrating this announcement:
“We’re excited to join the Michigan BlueGreen Alliance. Together we will focus on important issues impacting all workers in our state, including repairing our state’s infrastructure systems, creating good, union jobs in the clean economy, making sure we leave no workers or communities behind as our energy mix changes, and keeping workers safe and rebuilding our economy in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.” – Ron Bieber, President of the Michigan AFL-CIO
“The Michigan AFL-CIO is a powerful voice for working people in our state and we are honored to have them formally join our state table. We will build a stronger, cleaner, more prosperous economy in Michigan by working together. Unions and union workers were pivotal in organizing and promoting the first Earth Day, and we are proud to make this announcement today.” – Frank Houston, Michigan Regional Program Manager, BlueGreen Alliance.
